Hayagriva Incarnation Of Vishnu

Once upon a time, out of the primeval lotus emerged two drops of water. When Lord Narayana cast his eyes upon it, out of one of the drop of water which looked like honey originated a Daitya named Madhu made up of the quality of ignorance. The other drop of water was very hard and out of it originated an other being named Kaitabha made up of the quality of darkness. As soon as they were born, the two Daityas started roaming inside the lotus. They saw Lord Brahma engaged in the creation of the Vedas. They immediately snatched the Vedas from Brahma and dived to the bottom of the ocean. Brahma was upset at this and started praying to Narayana. Then Narayana assumed the form of Hayagriva and went to the bottom of the ocean. There he began to chant the Vedic mantras. The two Daityas hearing the Vedic Mantras being chanted, immediately threw the Vedas down and rushed to the spot. Narayana then collected the Vedas and gave it back to Brahma. In the meantime, Madhu and Kaitabha returned to the spot where they dropped the Vedas but could not find it. They then went to the surface of the water where they saw Narayana in yoga maya. They started laughing loudly and taunted him. Narayana got to know their intention was to fight with him. He fought with them and killed them. The bodies of the two Daityas disintegrated into 12 pieces. (These are considered to represent the twelve seismic plates of Earth!)

So, Asvapati prayed to Savitr. Then Savitr pleased with his devotion, appeared before him. He told the king his desires will be fulfilled. Soon, Asvapati's wife delivered a girl child. Asvapati was overjoyed! He named the child Savitri to show his respect towards the God Savitr and celebrated her birth with pomp and ostentation. Soon, Savitri grew into a beautiful maiden and it was time to get her married. So, Asvapati made arrangements to find a suitable match for her. But, none agreed as she was both beautiful and intelligent. So, Asvapati asked Savitri to choose a husband for herself. She agreed and visited various kingdoms. Think Before You Curse

Once upon a time, Lord Shiva was explaining the Vedas to Goddess Parvati. This went on for many years and eventually Parvati's attention got a little diverted. This irritated Shiva and he cursed her to be born as a fisherwoman. He immediately repented after doing this. But, once a curse is uttered, it cannot be revoked. Hence, Parvati was born as a baby on earth and found lying under a tree by the Chief of Paravaras (A clan of fishermen). He adopted her and bought her up. She was a quick learner and learnt all the skills of fishermen. Soon, she was admired by all. Meanwhile, Lord Shiva was repenting in his abode. Nandi (his attendant) consoled him and came up with a plan. Shiva agreed. Nandi took the form of a shark and began to torment the village of the fishermen. Then, the Chief of the Paravaras told he would offer his daughter, Parvati to the person who captures the shark. Many fishermen tried to capture the shark, but to no avail. Then, finally when the Chief of Paravaras as...
