Exchange Of Clothes

Once Devayani (daughter of Shukracharya) and Sharmishtha (daughter of an asura king) went to swim in a lake along with their friends. When they approached the lake, they left their clothes in separate piles and plunged into the lake. Suddenly a storm broke out and all their clothes were mixed up. When they came out of the lake and dressed themselves up, Devayani noticed that Sharmishtha was wearing her upper garment. She got angry and called Sharmishtha a thief! Sharmishtha tried to convince Devayani that it was a mistake. But, Devayani kept abusing her. So Sharmishtha walked away. Devayani ran behind her and tried to pull her upper garment, but Sharmishtha pushed her into a well and left. Devayani was stuck in the well and called for help. Meanwhile, King Yayati had come to that forest for hunting and was thirsty. As soon as he saw the well, he got down from his horse to drink water. But the well was empty and Devayani was inside the well. She told him who she was and asked for help. He pulled her out of the well. She thanked him and left. She went home and narrated the incident to her father, Shukracharya. Shukracharya got enraged and stormed to the Asura King.

He was meditating on Lord Vishnu as well. This handsome man was none other than Lord Ganesha. Tulsi immediately fell for him and asked him who he was. But, Lord Ganesha did not respond.
