The Celestial horse

Once upon a time, Kadru(Mother Of Snakes) and Vinata(Mother of Aruna and Garuda), were taking a walk. They saw Uchaishrava(celestial horse) in the sky. Kadru asked Vinata to tell the colour of the horse. Vinata confidently said "white". Kadru said that she thinks the tail of the horse is black. Vinata disagreed. So both of them bet on the colour of the horse and agreed whoever loses, will become the slave of the other. Kadru had second thoughts about the bet. She decided to make the horse's tail appear black even if it wasn't. Kadru asked her thousand sons(snakes) to make the horse's tail appear black. When they refused to do it, Kadru cursed that they would all be consumed in Janamejaya's(Arjuna's great grandson) snake sacrifice. Brahma heard this curse and approved it as the number of poisonous snakes were increasing on earth. He advised the snakes to follow their mother's order. They agreed to do it. The next morning, Kadru and Vinata set out to the abode of Uchaishrava. They saw the horse but the tail appeared black. Kadru's sons had executed the plan. Vinata was devastated and she had to continue being the servant of Kadru.

Think Before You Curse

Once upon a time, Lord Shiva was explaining the Vedas to Goddess Parvati. This went on for many years and eventually Parvati's attention got a little diverted. This irritated Shiva and he cursed her to be born as a fisherwoman. He immediately repented after doing this. But, once a curse is uttered, it cannot be revoked. Hence, Parvati was born as a baby on earth and found lying under a tree by the Chief of Paravaras (A clan of fishermen). He adopted her and bought her up. She was a quick learner and learnt all the skills of fishermen. Soon, she was admired by all. Meanwhile, Lord Shiva was repenting in his abode. Nandi (his attendant) consoled him and came up with a plan. Shiva agreed. Nandi took the form of a shark and began to torment the village of the fishermen. Then, the Chief of the Paravaras told he would offer his daughter, Parvati to the person who captures the shark. Many fishermen tried to capture the shark, but to no avail. Then, finally when the Chief of Paravaras as...
