Pleasure Island Of The Nagas

After Vinata became Kadru's slave, her second son came out of his shell. As he was born, he increased the size of his body and rose up to the sky and went to meet his mother, Vinata. She was very happy to see him! At that moment, Kadru came up to them and said she wanted to go to the pleasure island of the nagas (snakes) in the midst of the ocean called Ramaniyaka. Vinata took Kadru on her shoulder and Garuda took Kadru's children on his shoulder. He was perplexed and wondered if he and his mother were their slaves. He got enraged and increased his size further. He flew towards the sun. The snakes were alarmed. Kadru prayed to Indra to save her sons from the heat. Indra answered her prayers and it began to rain. Then Garuda took her sons to the island. Kadru and Vinata were already there. Kadru and her sons went to explore the island. Garuda asked Vinata why should they listen to bidding of the snakes. Then Vinata explained the story of the bet. After listening to the story, Garuda went to the Nagas and asked them what he should do to gain freedom from this slavery. They asked him to get the Amrit (Nectar Of Immortalty). Garuda agreed to get it and went to get his mother's blessings. After that he set out to get the Amrit.

Think Before You Curse

Once upon a time, Lord Shiva was explaining the Vedas to Goddess Parvati. This went on for many years and eventually Parvati's attention got a little diverted. This irritated Shiva and he cursed her to be born as a fisherwoman. He immediately repented after doing this. But, once a curse is uttered, it cannot be revoked. Hence, Parvati was born as a baby on earth and found lying under a tree by the Chief of Paravaras (A clan of fishermen). He adopted her and bought her up. She was a quick learner and learnt all the skills of fishermen. Soon, she was admired by all. Meanwhile, Lord Shiva was repenting in his abode. Nandi (his attendant) consoled him and came up with a plan. Shiva agreed. Nandi took the form of a shark and began to torment the village of the fishermen. Then, the Chief of the Paravaras told he would offer his daughter, Parvati to the person who captures the shark. Many fishermen tried to capture the shark, but to no avail. Then, finally when the Chief of Paravaras as...
