Identify The True Chyavana

Once the Ashwini Kumaras (Celestial physicians) saw Sukanya in a forest and asked her to marry them. She told she was the wife of Sage Chyavana and would not marry anybody else. When they asked why she wanted to be the wife of a blind Sage, she got angry and asked them to leave before she curses them. They said they wanted to test her chastity and would restore Sage Chyavana's vision and his youth if she passes the test. The Ashwini Kumaras said they would disguise themselves as Sage Chyavana along with him and she has to identify from the three who is her real husband. Sukanya was hesitant. She approached her husband and took his permission to take the test. He blessed her. Then the Ashwini Kumaras along with Sage Chyavana jumped into the lake. When the came out, all the three looked like Sage Chyavana. Sukanya prayed to the divine mother. The divine mother told her to look carefully only at their eyes and said only the mortals blink. Sukanya observed only the eyes of the one in the center blinked and said he was her husband. She was right. The Ashwini Kumaras were impressed and restored the sight and youth of Sage Chyavana. Sukanya and Sage Chyavana lived happily ever after.

Story Of Chakra Tirtha

Once, there was a brahmana named Padmanabha who was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. He performed a severe penance on the banks of Chakra Pushkarini. On being pleased with his penance, Lord Vishnu appeared before him. On seeing Lord Vishnu, Padmanabha started to eulogize him. How King Kaushika Became Sage Vishwamitra

Once upon a time, King Kaushika and his army went on a hunt. They soon became tired and hungry. So, they searched for food and water everywhere. They then came across Sage Vasishta's hermitage and asked him for food and water. Sage Vasishta and his wife Arundhati, offered them a sumptuous meal. King Kaushika was puzzled. He wondered how a poor Sage like Vasishta could offer him and his huge army such a sumptuous meal. He asked the Sage how he was able to do so. Vasishta told Kaushika that he could do this with the help of his cow, Kamadhenu (wish-fulfilling cow) which he had got as a gift from Lord Indra. There was once an Asura (Demon) named Hiranyakashipu. He was the younger brother of Hiranyaksha (who was killed by the Varaha Avatar of Lord Vishnu). In order to avenge the death of his brother, Hiranyakashipu performed severe penances. Lord Brahma was pleased with his austerities and asked him what he wanted. Hiranyakashipu asked for a boon that he should neither be killed by a man nor a beast, neither by day nor by night, neither indoors nor outdoors, neither on earth nor in the sky and finally without any weapon. Brahma granted him this boon. With this boon, Hiranyakashipu became very powerful and troubled everyone in the three worlds.
